- Conducting (legal) research.
- Spreading the vision of strategic litigation and clients’ message in the media.

Selection criteria
PILP works with a compact team and cannot accept all requests. Criteria for case selection include:
- Cases must take place in the Netherlands or the Dutch legal sphere, be related to human rights and serve the public interest.
- Cases must not be completely legally hopeless and must fit strategically within a broader struggle.
- The group involved must support the case and it must contribute to the progressive realization of human rights and the rule of law in the Netherlands.
- PILP prefers cases that are widely supported within the movement from which they originate and is happy to work in coalitions with other lawyers, experts and NGOs.
- The PILP team makes joint decisions on taking on new cases, with entirely new cases being submitted to PILP’s advisory board.
